Bryon Powell finishes Western States in 22h11m25s As if 100 miles of Sierra Nevada trails weren't challenging enough, temperatures reached up to 117 degrees Saturday afternoon with no cover from the sun for long stretches. Nighttime temps didn't drop much below the high 70's. BP ran the majority of the race (70+ miles) with his training buddy Scotty and finished the race holding hands with him. This is Bryon's third year running the W$100.
W$100, Bryon Powell, Bib #353 -by (2006-06-26)Old Goat Track Club Dominates Pine Beach 5k The Old Goat Track Club had a near sweep of the Pine Beach 5k this past Sunday. Showing the form that garnered him second at nationals in the steeple just over a month ago, Grant Scott (15:06) pulled away for the victory with about 200m to go. Close on his heals was 1500m All-American Bobby Cannon (15:12), showing fine early season form in his buildup to NYC. Finishing 4th, and, of course, just outside the money, was Scott's classmate Bernie Muller (15:35). This trio combined to dominate the team competition, bringing in some hardware for the OGTC.
Also running in the race were current goats Zach Vaslow (listed as J Peterman)(15:59), Colin Yarbrough (17:11) and Timothy Golden (18:02). As an aside, Golden looked extremely smooth in the lead over the first 75m. Great job goats, old and young! Full results can be found here

Sam Dalke gets his first All-American certificate, placing 8th in the 1500m (3:55). Bernie runs a great 10k just missing All-American by less than 2 seconds, placing 10th (31:19). Yuot of Widener runs amazing three-day triple, winning 10k, steeple, and 5k. Full Results -by Drew (2006-05-28)Goats go to nationals Grant Scott, Sam Dalke, and yes, Bernie Muller made the national team today. Grant's time of 9:06.43 gives him the first official seed but right with him are macharia's 9:06.3 and Mike Herlihy's 9:06.4. Dalke's 3:52.13 was good for the 12th seed and Muller's 30:56.59 good for 16th, not the last seed as Muller predicted. Good luck to all the goats going out to nationals. -by Brandon Rowe (2006-05-21)Dalke improves on his provisional, old goats run well. At Monday nights Nova twilight meet, Sam Dalke improved his provisional qualifier for nationals by over a second running 3:52.13. This all but guarantees him a spot at nationals two weeks from now. Grant Scott ran a solid 3:56.53 in the same heat, setting him up well for a run at the national title in the steeplechase.
The mens 5k featured some current goats, along with Scott Sargrad and Brandon Rowe running for the Haddonfield Running Company. Scott ran a solid race up front in 14:53.07 for 4th, with Vaslow (14:59), Rowe (15:10), Muller (15:18) and Fritz-Mauer (15:59) finishing for the goats. -by Bernie Jones (2006-05-16)Goats step it up hardcore in the conference meet Big races by a lot of people this weekend in the conference meet.
